Hallmark Continued

As teachers we should strive to help our students continually achieve their personal best. We should never compare students to one another because each student is individual and good at different things. We should only focus on what they can do and setting goals in how they can become better. This is something that should never be done in a negative way. We are there to show students that we care and we should help them achieve goals by guiding and supporting them every step of the way. I think it is important to involve parents in goal setting for their children, which is why we have SEP’s after all. We bring them into the classroom once a term to talk about the progress their students are making and to set goals to work towards for the rest of the term. It is all about helping the student to achieve their maximum potential. Although achievement standards are based on a class scale when it comes to standardized testing, we should never let this cloud the fact that we are helping students grow individually. I am sure at times it can be hard to stay in this mindset, especially since pay is now performance based, but we need to remember that our number one goal in life as a teacher is to help each individual student to achieve success. After all, aren’t we becoming teachers because we care about kids and want to help them become the best that they can be?

  1. Nice job on this... keep going deeper with the reflection aspects. Use "I" statements, and personal examples or questions or opinions, whenever you can. 5 pts.
